So Close

If I ever get married, I want this as my wedding theme song. It's from the movie "Enchanted". I love the double meaning of this song, and the juxtaposition of "close" and "far". How close you are, to being to be closer, and how far it still is, till happily ever after.

So Close

Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Vocals by Jon Mclaughlin

"You're in my arms
And all the world is calm
The music playing on for only two
So close together
And when I'm with you
So close to feeling alive

A life goes by
Romantic dreams must die
So I bid mine goodbye and never knew
So close was waiting, waiting here with you
And now forever I know
All that I wanted to hold you
So close

So close to reaching that famous happy end
Almost believing this was not pretend
Now you're beside me and look how far we've come
So far we are so close

How could I face the faceless days
If I should lose you now?
We're so close
To reaching that famous happy end
Almost believing this was not pretend
Let's go on dreaming for we know we are
So close
So close
And still so far"

This song also reminds of long time ago in lit class, when my teacher, Ms Loong, told us, when you meet The One, you want to be close to him always yet, when you are, the attraction is so strong, then you repel, and feel the need to maintain a distance.
